In 1992, Zeta Tau Alpha adopted The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as the Fraternity's national philanthropy. At the 1996 International Convention, the Fraternity voted to increase ZTA's
support of breast cancer awareness by backing all organizations committed to breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
Each year, members distribute one million waterproof shower cards which identify how to perform breast self-examinations; volunteer at more than 86 Race for the Cure® events nationwide; and
co-sponsor the Survivor Program for the Race® series.
ZTA's Leading StretchesAlpha Omicron has continued this commitment by holding the ZTA5K. With the support of the University of Iowa, UI Greek Community, local Iowa City businesses, and our family and friends, almost $4000 was raised in the first year. Now in our 10th year, our 5K Race for the Cure has experienced continued success raising close to $20,000 last year!
